On June 21st, the Shasta Mountain Art, Wine & Brew Fest took over Shastice Park in Mount Shasta. This annual community event brings together art, live music, craft beer and wine, and local food—all to support the Siskiyou Humane Society, a no-kill animal shelter serving the region since 1968.

Over 20 alcohol vendors and close to 10 food trucks showed up, alongside artists, vendors, and adoptable dogs from the shelter. The park had a relaxed, vibrant energy—families, friends, and animal lovers enjoying the sun, supporting a cause, and connecting with the local creative community. Capturing the essence of the day was easy. Raffles ran throughout the day (I won a shirt), and the night wrapped with an after-party at Deadwood in downtown Shasta, where local DJ and audio mixer Lumiere Hayes kept the evening going.

The Siskiyou Humane Society operates just outside of Mount Shasta. As one of the oldest no-kill shelters in Northern California, their work goes beyond adoptions—they offer spay/neuter assistance, humane education, and a second chance for animals that would otherwise be forgotten. The shelter is fully nonprofit and relies on donations, volunteers, and events like this to keep their work going.
