Two weeks ago, I was a photographer for a spiritual retreat in Mount Shasta, CA. Afterward, I stuck around to help my friend Lumiere Hayes, a local audio mixer, on a few projects. Around the same time, my friend Tyler Kahn reached out needing drone footage for a music video — specifically shots free of modern civilization.

We wanted to add data moshing and glitch effects to give the video a slightly unsettling feel, but still maintain a balance. The color palette — muted yellows against more neutral tones — created a sense of two worlds: one pre-apocalyptic, one post. That contrast, combined with the movement and editing, reflects a deeper tension. Tyler needed the final cut by Wednesday, which gave me only two days to bring it all together.
The creative flow was effortless. Tyler shared his needs, and I delivered — no hiccups despite the tight turnaround.
“This remix started as a late-night experiment and turned into something I couldn’t put down,” Tyler said. “BB’s Theme has always felt like the heart of Death Stranding — subtle but weighty. I didn’t want to force anything. I let the key changes lead the mood, just like the original does.”

“When it came time to give it visuals,” he added, “I knew it needed more than stock footage or safe edits. I teamed up with Anthony because his landscapes give the track space to breathe — and his glitchy, off-kilter cuts break that calm in ways that feel unexpected but right. That contrast between peace and disruption matched what I felt in the game.”
Death Stranding is a video game about rebuilding connections in a post-apocalyptic America where a cataclysmic event has severed ties between the living and the dead, and the world is overrun by spectral creatures called BTs.With only a rough concept from Tyler, I crafted visuals that aimed to reflect his interpretation of the game’s themes.
